Emergency crews evacuate 14 residents after fire erupts in Sumgait dormitory

The Ministry of Emergency Situations received a report about a fire breaking out in a dormitory building located in the 14th neighborhood of Sumgait city through the "112" hotline, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.

It was stated that, in response to the report, the forces of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Sumgait Regional Center were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Thanks to the necessary and urgent measures carried out in accordance with operational conditions, the fire that broke out in the corridor of the fourth floor of the four-story dormitory building was extinguished in a short time, preventing it from spreading further, including to the rooms.

As a result of the fire, in the corridor of the 4th floor, 30 square meters of electrical cables, a closet, and belongings covering an area of 10 square meters, 1 window frame, and 1 room door were partially burned.

As part of safety measures, 14 residents of the building were evacuated.

The dormitory building and its rooms were protected from the fire.
