Prosecutor General’s Office, Interior Ministry, and State Security Service release joint statement on the death of 18-year-old Elgun Ibrahimov in Ganja, APA reports.
The joint statement reads:
"As previously reported, intensive investigative and operational-search measures are being carried out as part of the criminal case being investigated by the Ganja City Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the death of Elgun Ibrahimov, born in 2007, who died on May 13 while receiving treatment at a hospital in the city of Ganja.
Verification of all hypotheses in the criminal case
All hypotheses within the framework of the criminal case, including the possibilities of the deceased having committed suicide, fallen accidentally, or died as a result of being inflicted with severe bodily injuries, have been examined.
Evidence obtained at the current stage of the investigation
At the current stage of the investigation, based on the evidence obtained — namely, witness statements, examination of the scene, review of surveillance footage, external and internal autopsy of the body, phone data, forensic genetic, forensic medical and other expert reports, and additional evidence — it has been determined that Elgun Ibrahimov was not injured by any third party, no act of violence was committed against him, and he died as a result of multiple injuries sustained from falling from a height.
It was also established that on May 12, at around 4:00 PM, after leaving his preparatory course, Elgun Ibrahimov sold his mobile phone and repaid monetary debts he owed to various individuals.
Afterwards, E. Ibrahimov met with acquaintances at the "Nakhish" tea house located in Ganja city and consumed alcoholic beverages with them; at 19:40, he left the location together with them and walked to the area in front of City Hospital No. 1 named after Abbas Sahhat, where he parted ways with his acquaintances, and at that time, no signs of injury were observed on E. Ibrahimov.
Later, at 20:17, E. Ibrahimov bought 2 packs of cigarettes from a market and went alone to the unused dormitory of the Technology University located at 115 M. Khalefov Street in Ganja city, where he had previously spent time regularly; he went out onto a balcony without railings on the 5th floor of the dormitory, smoked several cigarettes there, and then fell from the balcony onto a hard surface covered with soil in the yard, sustaining multiple injuries. At 22:52, he was found lying injured by a guard in the area and was transported to the hospital by emergency medical services; on May 13, he died in the hospital due to the injuries he had sustained.
It is once again reminded that during the ongoing investigation, the dissemination of information related to criminal cases should be carried out only based on information confirmed by official state authorities, and especially in matters to which society is sensitive, behavior must be responsible and lawful.
