A moderate earthquake has been recorded in central Azerbaijan, near the border between the Shamakhi and Agsu districts, APA reports.
According to official data, the 3.8-magnitude tremor occurred at 07:56 local time on 18 January. The epicentre was located about 12 kilometres south of the Pirgulu seismic station, in the Agsu district.
The Republican Seismological Service Centre said the earthquake was felt at a strength of up to four on the intensity scale at the epicentre, and between three and four in nearby settlements. The focus of the quake was at a depth of between six and nine kilometres.
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said there were no reports of casualties or damage following the tremor.
Monitoring of the situation is ongoing.
