A court hearing was held at the Sabail District Court of Baku City regarding the selection of a preventive detention measure against Ramil Ramiz Aliyev, born in 1991, and Ismayil Buludkhan Hasanov, born in 1974, within the framework of a criminal case under investigation by the State Security Service (SSS), APA reports.
According to the case materials, various criminal acts were committed abroad and in the Republic of Azerbaijan by those individuals who were identified, detained, and presented for investigation as a result of operational-search measures carried out by the State Security Service.
It was established that these individuals committed various criminal acts both abroad and within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
They had been convicted for committing intentional murder and other serious and particularly grave crimes against individuals on the territory of a foreign country and, while they were serving their sentences in that country’s penal institutions, were personally selected by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former head of the Wagner armed group to divert them from serving their sentences and involved in various military operations in exchange for agreed funds.
They participated in training and combat operations in the territories of various countries using firearms and explosive devices, and were involved in inciting other citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan to engage in such actions outside the country. Currently, investigations are underway into the criminal case involving Ramil Aliyev and Ismayil Hasanov, as well as other criminal acts committed against citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and foreign nationals.
Based on the results of the court hearing, a preventive measure in the form of a 4-month detention has been chosen against Ramil Aliyev and Ismayil Hasanov.
