A court hearing has been held on the appeals filed against the decision to extend the pre-trial detention measure imposed on Ali Karimli, chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (APFP), and Mammad Ibrahim, a member of the party’s Presidium, who were detained as a result of an operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS), APA reports.
A decision was made at today’s hearing held at the Baku Court of Appeal.
According to the decision, the appeals were not upheld.
Recall that last year, by a decision of the Sabail District Court, a pre-trial detention measure of 2 months and 15 days was imposed on Ali Karimli and Mammad Ibrahim. On February 9 of this year, the detention measure chosen against them was extended for an additional 4 months.
Both accused individuals have been charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code (actions aimed at violently seizing power or forcibly changing the constitutional order of the state).
