The detention period of Ali Karimli, chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, has been extended, APA reports.
A motion regarding Ali Karimli—who was detained by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan—was reviewed at the Sabail District Court.
The court decided to extend the preventive detention measure imposed on him for an additional four months.
Ali Karimli has been charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (actions aimed at seizing power by force or violently changing the constitutional order).
Note that Ali Karimli, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP), and Mammad Ibrahim, a member of the party’s Presidium, were questioned at the State Security Service (SSS) as part of the investigation being conducted regarding them.
After searches were conducted at their homes, they were taken to the State Security Service.
According to information, the searches and interrogations at the homes of Ali Karimli and Mammad Ibrahim are connected to the criminal case against Ramiz Mehdiyev, being investigated at the State Security Service (SSS).
Recall that the former head of the Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev, is charged under Articles 278.1 (acts aimed at seizing state power), 274 (treason against the state), and 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through criminal means) of the Criminal Code.
