The appeal against the pre-trial detention measure chosen for Akif Safarov, who was detained as a result of an operation carried out by Russian law enforcement agencies against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg on June 27, has been returned to the court of first instance, APA's Russia bureau reports.
On June 29, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg upheld the investigator's motion to impose a pre-trial detention measure on Akif Mohbali oglu Safarov.
The preliminary investigation authorities have charged him under Article 105.2, Paragraph “g” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group”).
The defense side filed an appeal against the decision.
While reviewing the case materials, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court identified circumstances that prevent the consideration of the case at the appellate instance. The case materials were removed from the appellate review and returned to the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg for correction of the errors.
