Azerbaijan's SBS detained 20 foreigners for violating state border last month

27 people were detained in May for crossing the state border illegally, the Press Center of the State Border Service (SBS) told APA.

Foreigners who crossed the border

Among them, 7 were Azerbaijani citizens, 5 from Iran, 5 from Afghanistan, 5 from Pakistan, 3 from Morocco, 1 from Yemen, and 1 from Sri Lanka.

Illegal migration

As a result of measures against illegal migration, 8 people were detained while trying to cross the state border using forged date stamps and passports or documents belonging to other people.

780 people were detained for violating border regime rules, and appropriate measures were taken against them.

As a result of measures against crime, 328 people wanted by law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities. The exit from the country was prohibited for 499 people, and the entry of 20 people who were banned from entering the country was prevented.

Illegal trafficking of narcotic substances

As a result of measures against illegal trafficking of narcotic substances, 291 kilograms and 941 grams of narcotic substances and 564 pills considered strong narcotic drugs were detected and removed from circulation.

Smuggling activities

As a result of measures against smuggling, contraband goods worth a total of 3,793,325 manats were discovered, including 17 rounds of ammunition for an "Astra" brand pistol with a magazine, medicines, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products, all confiscated.

Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border continue.
