On March 10, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons, Kathryne Bomberger, APA reports, citing Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
During the meeting, they discussed the issue of Azerbaijanis who went missing during Armenia's aggression and occupation of Azerbaijan's territories, the current situation in the direction of the identification and locating of missing persons, as well as efforts for international cooperation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the issue of "missing persons" has always been a central focus, noting that as a result of Armenia's aggression in the early 1990s, up to 4,000 Azerbaijanis, including civilians, children, and women, went missing.
It was mentioned that since 2023, Azerbaijan has been organizing international conferences to raise awareness on this issue, and the active role of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan in this work was highlighted.
It was also emphasized that it is crucial to mobilize international efforts to resolve the issue of missing persons.
