A large amount of narcotic substances has been prevented from being smuggled into the country, said the Press Center of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
According to the information, measures continue to ensure the reliable protection of maritime borders, strengthen control over regime rules in the Caspian Sea, and combat the illegal circulation of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, and their precursors.
On March 6, a border patrol unit performing the task of protecting the state border in the service area of the Coast Guard Command of the State Border Service, discovered 10 kilograms 385 grams of marijuana, a narcotic substance, while inspecting a vessel belonging to residents of Lankaran district - Mustafayev Dayanat, born in 1979, and Aghaoglu Elshan, born in 1980 - who were engaged in fishing activities in the territorial waters of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the Caspian Sea.
Operational and investigative measures are underway.
