A total of 2,325 drug-related incidents were recorded during January–March 2025 as a result of joint operations by Azerbaijani law enforcement entities targeting drug addiction and the illegal drug trade, APA reports, citing the Permanent Working Group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illegal Trafficking.
Of the total cases, 679 involved illegal drug sales, 1,638 related to illegal possession, 6 were linked to illicit cultivation of drug-containing plants, and 2 to other drug-related crimes.
Authorities confiscated 2,205.009782 tons of narcotic and psychotropic substances from illegal circulation. This includes 1,908.95814 tons of marijuana, 137.89745 kg of heroin, 50.206512 kg of opium, 30.7593 kg of hashish, 21.101767 kg of other narcotics, and 56.086613 kg of psychotropic substances.
Additionally, 2,174 methadone pills and 15 cannabis plants were seized during this period.
The total value of confiscated substances is estimated at 58.54 million AZN.
