Azerbaijan restricts entry of 161 foreign nationals over past month

During June 2025, 161 foreigners who violated the requirements of migration legislation were administratively expelled from the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and their entry into the country was restricted for the period established by law, the State Migration Service said in response to APA's inquiry.

It was noted that during the first 6 months of this year, 1,217,558 entries into the country were registered by citizens of 185 countries. At the same time, during the first 6 months of this year, a total of 9,714 administrative decisions were adopted by the State Migration Service regarding citizens of 119 countries for violating migration legislation. Of these, 1,007 foreigners were administratively expelled from the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and their entry into the country was restricted for the period established by law.

"During the relevant period of 2025, 33,342 applications were received from citizens of 141 countries for obtaining a temporary residence permit (temporary extension) in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During June of this year, 237,510 entries into the territory of the country were recorded by citizens of 167 countries. As a result of measures taken against illegal migration during the relevant period, 750 persons were detained," it was noted.
