A large quantity of narcotics has been prevented from being smuggled into Azerbaijan, APA reports citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
To ensure reliable border protection and combat the illegal circulation of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors, a border search and operation were conducted in the service area of the Horadiz border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops Command. As a result, a large quantity of narcotics was prevented from being smuggled from Iran into Azerbaijan, and one individual was detained.
On March 18, Fuad Alimadat Vahidov, a Baku resident born in 1995, was detained while attempting to smuggle 6 kilograms and 670 grams of marijuana into the country. Additionally, during an operation on March 25, another 10 kilograms and 600 grams of marijuana were found and seized from the service area.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
