A large quantity of narcotic drugs being smuggled into the country has been intercepted, APA reports citing Press Center of the State Border Service.
The report indicates that measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors continue successfully. On May 11, as a result of border searches and operational measures conducted by the "Lankaran" border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service in its service area, a large quantity of narcotic drugs being smuggled from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.
As a result of the search operations, a total of 10 kilograms and 320 grams of marijuana was discovered and seized.
Operational-investigative measures are ongoing.
