An attempt to smuggle narcotic substances into Azerbaijan has been prevented, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued.
As a result of operations carried out jointly with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on April 6 in the service area of the Horadiz border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service, the transfer of a total of 14 kilograms and 240 grams of narcotic substances (14 kg 200 g of marijuana; 40 g of methamphetamine) from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was prevented.
Operational-investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the incident.
