Azerbaijan launches criminal case over death of soldier in ammunition explosion in Jabrayil

While performing his official duties in the Jabrayil district, a serviceman of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SBS), Junior Sergeant Musazade Asgar Nijat, sustained various degrees of bodily injuries due to an ammunition explosion found in the area, SBS said in response to an inquiry from APA.

"Despite the efforts of the doctors, he passed away. An investigation is being carried out by the SBS and the Military Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident," the statement says.

In response to APA's inquiry, Firad Aliyev, the Senior Assistant to the Military Prosecutor and Head of the Press Service of the Military Prosecutor's Office, stated that following the death of military serviceman Musazade Asgar Nijat from the N military unit of the State Border Service due to an explosion, the Füzuli Military Prosecutor's Office and the Criminalistics and Information Technology Department of the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted relevant inspections, the forensic medical examination of the body was conducted with the participation of a forensic expert, and other measures have been taken.

Regarding this incident, the Füzuli Military Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Witnesses have been questioned, various expert examinations have been ordered and assigned for execution, and other investigative actions have been taken.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and all necessary measures will be taken in accordance with legal requirements, including a legal assessment of each fact and action.
