Cooperation in the fight against crime between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan continues successfully, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
The request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the prosecution of Abror Anvar Akbarov, a citizen of Uzbekistan born in 1997, was granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Akbarov, who was wanted internationally for committing the crime of large amount of tax evasion in Uzbekistan, was identified and detained in Azerbaijan in January of this year. A detention order was issued against him.
In accordance with the Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, dated October 7, 2002, a decision was made regarding his extradition, and he was handed over to the relevant authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, accompanied by the special convoy of the Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Service.
