Nearly 1 in 6 of world’s population suffer from neurological disorders

Up to 1 billion people, nearly one in six of the world’s population, suffer from neurological disorders, APA reports.
According to the new report of World Health Organization, the disorders include Alzheimer and Parkinson disease, strokes, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, migraine and others. 6.8 million people die of the maladies each year. People in all countries, irrespective of age, sex, education or income are affected. Global statistics show that 50 million people suffer from epilepsy, 62 million from cerebrovascular disease, 326 million from migraine, and 24 million from Alzheimer disease and other dementias. The economic cost of such diseases in Europe reached some €139 billion in 2004. /APA/
