Azerbaijan Press Council Chief Aflatun Amashov expressed concern about the released information about 15-day arrest of the editor-in-chief of Talishi Sedo newspaper by “RIA-Novosti� agency’s Azerbaijani bureau “Novosti-Azerbaijan�, PC told the APA. Amashov stressed the importance of journalist’s unbiased approach to the facts.
“The information causes pressure on freedom of speech and press, because detained person is a journalist and editor-in-chief. His newspaper was closed r long time ago and it does not function now. Why detained person is not presented as scientist, but as journalist? False presentation of the news can not serve to the interests of Azerbaijan. We call on the agency to approach the events more sensible and present them as they are,� the statement says. /APA/
