The Minister calls on people to be vigilant because of bird flu.
“17,000 examinations were conducted in labs related to birds. No virus has been found. But we should be watchful as the virus has been found in different countries. State Veterinary Service keeps it under control. The Veterinary Service and its local departments should be informed in case of death of wild and domestic birds, so that to take necessary measures. Hygienic procedures should be strongly obeyed when contacting with birds. Even simple measures can help to prevent bird flu, he said.
Stressing the importance of serious control over bird flu, the Minister said they have prepared and submitted standards of medications and foodstuffs to the Cabinet of Ministers.
“These standards are out-of-date and do not meet the required standards. Therefore we have improved the standards. We are expecting the Cabinet’s response, the Minister said.
38-year-old resident of Azerbaijani region of Neftchala was hospitalized with suspicion of contracting bird flu on February 2. She died at hospital on February 6. /APA/
