American Biographical Institute has selected former chief of Azerbaijani Health Ministry’s international relations department Prof. Aleksandr Umnyashkin with Gold Medal for Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The Institute’s selection was based on the professor’s medical sciences achievements and publications of more than 300 articles and books in the immunology and genetic field.
Umnyashkin was arrested on October 2005; afterwards his arrest was commuted to house arrest. He as well as former Health Minister Ali Insanov and other former officials will stand trial on February 15. These former high-ranking officials face charges of abuse of power, bribery, embezzlement and several other crimes. /APA/
