“Salyan resident, 14 year-old Ajdar Askerov suspected of bird flu and died on January 28, had fallen into the canal and came home in wet clothes before falling ill. He became seriously ill two weeks after that,� Health Ministry press secretary Anar Gedirli told the APA. He said that people can be infected with bird flu virus through water, but it does not seem real that Askerov was infected with H5N1 after falling into the canal.
“Mass death of poultries and wild fowls has not been observed in that village,� he said.
Gedirli noted that experts of Health Ministry keep epidemiological situation in the village of Dayikend under control.
Health Minister Ogtay Shireliyev left for Geneva to participate in the 120th meeting of World Health Organization Executive Committee and will return in 1-2 days. /APA/
