Georgian citizen spying on Armenian special service bodies against Azerbaijan sentenced to 14 years

Court of Grievous Crimes sentenced Ariz Khalilov spying on Armenian special service bodies to 14 years, National Security Ministry Public Relations Department told the APA. Khalilov is accused of spying and organizing terror acts. Investigations show that Georgian citizen, resident of the village Sadakhli of Marneuli region Ariz Khalilov was engaged in trading by carrying load to Armenia. During one of his visits he asked an Armenian policeman Karen Antonyan to patronize him. Antonyan is an officer of Armenian Interior Ministry and cooperates with Armenian special service bodies. National Security Ministry received the information about Khalilov’s spying on Armenian special service bodies in 2004. Khalilov used to visit Armenia and meet with officers of Armenian special service bodies, give information about our patriotic compatriots living in Georgia to Antonyan, carried out Armenian propaganda in Sadakhli. Khalilov also asked Antonyan to free him of customs. Khalilov shared part of his earnings with Armenian major, but then he gets instructions. The instructions were related with the processes in Sadakhli, the attitude of people to Azerbaijan and war. The instructions were getting difficult. Khalilov refused to fulfill the instructions, but Antonyan blackmailed him and made him fulfill the demands. Later Khalilov was ordered to commit terror in Azerbaijan. The target of the terror was oil-gas structures. He was assigned to test the possibility of terror acts in some of oil-fields and oil wells. Coming on this purpose to Baku, the spy monitored oil-fields. After getting some information about the strategical objects, Khalilov returned to Georgian and then to Armenia and got new instructions- to find out the ways of making an explosion in Baku metro, to check the security of Ganjlik metro station. The spy understood that the security is ensured well and informed his contractors about it. The next assignment was to explode one of the trade centers of Baku. Though Antonyan ordered him to take explosive materials, Khalilov did not take saying that the control in borders is serious and refused to bring any material. Antonyan promised to give Khalilov $50 000 if he commits terror in Baku. As the result of the operations conducted for year and half Khalilov was detained by the officers of NSM on March 11, 2006. During preliminary investigation he denied his partnership with Special Service Bodies of Armenia, but later he confessed it. /APA/
