Several judges punished over cases instigating to corruption in Azerbaijan

The Committee for Election of Judges made a report on the election of the candidates for judgeship. It was noted that 235 lawyers were elected among 2200 candidates for judgeship in the atmosphere of full transparency, on the level of the modern international requirements.

414 lawyers took examination for judgeship last month. The exam was followed and highly appreciated by the numerous local and international observers.

The organizational issues of the processes of election of candidates were discussed at the meeting, it was underlined that the exams must be held transparently and objectively, the best lawyers must be elected.

Judge of Nizami district court of Baku Ziya Aliyev was reprimanded, judge of Yasamal district court Tahir Ismayilov and judge of Hajigabul region court Malik Garayev were rebuked over serious violations of law, red tape and cases instigating to corruption, disciplinary proceedings were launched against four judges.
