Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan conducts special operation in Balakan, entrance and exits are controlled

The security forces detained a group of organized criminals who were planning terrorist attacks in Baku and started large-scale operations to detain other members of the group. The special forces of the Ministry of National Security conducted searches in the houses of suspects in the villages of Balakan region on border with Georgia. The security forces are controlling the entrance and exit points of the region and checking all transports. Local police proved the fact of operations by the security forces, but denied to give details because it is conducted by the Ministry of National Security.

The Ministry of National Security rendered a group of Azerbaijani and Russian citizens, who were planning the terrorist attacks in the territory of Azerbaijan, harmless several days ago. They smuggled a large deal of arms, ammunitions and explosives to Azerbaijan.

Agil Namazov, head of the organized gang, who is supposedly abroad, smuggled munitions, explosives and firearms to Guluzambina village of Balakan region with the help of a man called Jamal.

Agil Namazov told member of the gang Rafail Mugumov to receive and keep the munitions, explosives. Agil Namazov promised to give $500 to Rafail Mugumov and the latter agreed to the offer.

Investigation Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has launched criminal case on the fact on articles 206.4 (smuggling of arms by an organized gang), 228.3 and 228.4 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives). Samir Nuriyev, Rafail Mugumov, Yashar Gurbanov, Roza Namazova, Khaver Namazova, Ismayil Panahov, Bella Panahova, Elbert Gayrbiyev were held accountable and arrested.
