Azerbaijani National Security Ministry detains a group engaged in illicit drug trafficking

Over 64k narcotics were seized from them.

The Ministryâ€™s press service told APA that Azerbaijani Mammadov Tarlan Sadi, Abbasov Khankerem Shakir, Abbasov Kheyrulla Feyzulla and others smuggled narcotics from Iran to Azerbaijan. At the end of January Mammadov came to Bilasuvar city of Iran, met with unidentified Iranian citizen and agreed to smuggle narcotics to Azerbaijan. The Iranian sent the narcotics with the help of his four fellow countrymen to Jafarkhanli village of Azerbaijanâ€™s Jalilabad region. Mammadov, Khankerem Abbasov and Kheyrulla Abbasov received the drugs from them, but were detained by the officers of the National Security Ministry on the way to Salyan. Khankerem Abbasovâ€™s VAZ-2107 was searched, about 30k hashish and over 1 k heroin were seized.

As a result of another operation, Azerbaijani Mammadov Anar Akif was detained. A great deal of narcotics was seized from him. Anar Mammadov, unidentified Iranian citizen and others smuggled 31,139k hashish and 2,115k heroin from Iran to Azerbaijan.

The Ministryâ€™s Investigation Department launched criminal case on the facts on articles 206.3.2 (smuggling of narcotics by a group of persons), 234.4.1 ad 234.4.3 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code. Investigation is underway to detain other participants of the illegal actions.
