Head of Baku Education Office Naila Rzaguliyeva and her assistants immediately arrived at the site. Spokesperson for Baku Education Office Zamina Aligizi told APA that there were 1000 schoolchildren at school when the fire broke out.
“That school is one of the oldest schools of Baku, it was built in the 25-30s of the past century. The fire reportedly started on the third floor and spread to the roof. As the main columns of schools are wooden the school is burning quickly. The fire has already covered the second floor. Fortunately, there were no children on the third floor. About 1000 schoolchildren in the lower floors were evacuated,” she said.

Zamina Aligizi said the school had not been overhauled recently. 2400 children are studying at school.
“According to the recent reports, the whole building has burnt down. The documents of the school were also burnt,” he said.

State Firefighting Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations gave information about the fire. The fire started at 17.50. A lot of fire engines have been involved in the site. Measures are being taken to extinguish the fire.
