French citizen suspected in killing of 18-year old Azerbaijani in Strasburg goes on trial

The court held hearing on witnesses’ testimony, incident, as well as the court secretary’s report on suspect Nicolas Stusman’s life. The judge asked the defendant about the conditions of murder. There were controversial points in his testimony during the preliminary and court investigations. Then videotapes shot by a camera in the tram where the Azerbaijani man was killed, were shown.

The videotapes showed that French man, who killed Aghayev, talked loud via mobile phone and demonstrated aggressiveness. He turned to Orkhan and told him “Don’t look at me” and then took a knife and stabbed his throat.

The investigators said 32-year old defendant experienced family problems and was grown by his grandmother. He served in French army during the operations in former Yugoslavia. The court also made clear that Stuzman used alcohol and narcotic drugs. He was brought to justice earlier for the different violations of law.

Late Orkhan Agayev’s father Aliheydar Aghayev and brother Vusal also attended the trial.

The judiciary survey will be extended with the witnesses’ testimonies.

The verdict is expected to be declared on January 20.

Orkhan Aliheydar Aghayev, 18 was killed in the tram in Strasbourg on January 7, 2008. His father Aliheydar Aghayev is owner of “Baki geceleri” restaurant in Strasbourg.
