Azerbaijani Justice Minister receives delegation led by director of German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov received the delegation led by director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation Matthias Weckerling, Justice Ministryâ€™s press service told APA.

Fikrat Mammadov spoke about the relations between Azerbaijan and Germany. Speaking about the dynamic development of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, the minister mentioned his efficient visit to Germany in June and underlined that the joint statement signed on cooperation between the justice ministries of the two countries in Berlin opened broad opportunities for the deepening of the relations.

Matthias Weckerling underlined that Germany attached great importance to the development of the relations with Azerbaijan and said the Foundation for International Legal Cooperation established in 1992 and functioning in 30 countries aimed to support the partners in the judicial reforms. Matthias Weckerling said he was interested in the large-scale activities carried out to modernize the judicial system in Azerbaijan and expressed readiness for the development of the cooperation in this field. He also gave concrete proposals.

The priorities of the cooperation were discussed. The sides exchanged views on the formation of administrative justice, conformation of the legislation to the EU standards, support for the activity of the Justice Academy and Judicial Council, training for judges and candidates, visits abroad, development of notary.

The guests acquainted themselves with Heydar Aliyev Museum and History of Justice Museum in the ministry.

Matthias Weckerling plans to hold meetings in the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Azerbaijani Lawyersâ€™ Confederation.
