Restoration of monument erected in honor of Azerbaijani warriors in Sevastopol to be completed

Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. The restoration of the monument erected in honor of the Azerbaijani warriors in Sevastopol, Ukraine is about to be completed, APA reports. First deputy chief of Sevastopol administration Vladimir Kazarin told journalists at the press conference that the majority of the work had finished.
“The restoration is being done in an enterprise in Kiev. The enterprise wants the full payment. A part of the money has been paid, a guarantee letter has been given for the rest. I am sure that the restoration will be completed soon,” he said.

Kazarin said the funds had been allocated by the cultural department of Sevastopol administration and mentioned that Azerbaijani government wanted to offer assistance.
“But it is our duty to do it at our own expenses,” he said.

The criminal case materials on the persons, who destroyed the monument erected in honor of the Azerbaijani warriors killed for the freedom of Sevastopol in the World War II, have been sent to court. Chairman of the Azerbaijani community in Crimea Rahim Humbatov told APA that Balaklavsk court will consider the case. The preliminary court hearing will be held late in January, or early in February.

Georgian Eduard Arakelyan, 48, initiated to destroy the monument erected in honor of the Azerbaijani warriors, on Sapun mountain. He persuaded Andrei Ganin to commit the act of vandalism. They divided the iron board into pieces and sold to the point collecting metal waste. They are being held in Sevastopol detention facility. If proved, they will be sentenced up to five years in jail.
