Sumgayit Appeals Court rejects journalistâ€™s appeal

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. Sumgayit Appeals Court has today considered the appeal filed by journalist Mahal Ismayiloglu against the decision of Absheron district court. APA reports that Huseyn Nabiyev presided over the hearing. The court rejected Mahal Ismayilogluâ€™s appeal.

Mahal Ismayiloglu was held accountable basing on the complaint of Nasiba Safarova, who works in the house of Interior Ministryâ€™s officer Vahid Imanov on June 27, 2008. The journalist reportedly beat the maid of his neighbor on June 3 and June 21, 2008. criminal case was launched on the fact on article 221.3 (hooliganism committed with application of a weapon or subjects, used as the weapon). On July 1, 2009, Absheron court found Mahal Ismayiloglu guilty on articles 127 (inflicting deliberate minor harm to health, 128 (inflicting less serious harm to health) and 221.3 (hooliganism committed with application of a weapon or subjects, used as the weapon) of the Criminal Code. He got two-year suspended sentence.
