Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. Azerbaijani Interior Minister and a group of human rights defenders reached an agreement. APA reports that the members of the Human Rights Organizations Monitoring Group have today met with Interior Minister Ramil Usubov. The human rights defender Chingiz Ganizadeh told APA that Novella Jafaroglu, Saida Gojamanli and Seadet Benenyarli also attended the meeting.
“The minister gave information about the activity of the interior authorities, the work done last year, future plans and the policemen punished for the violation of human rights and liberties. Some of the issues we raised were replied immediately. It was considered expedient to improve the relations between the Interior Ministry and human rights organizations. An agreement was reached to deliver lectures on human rights and liberties to the officers attending six-month course in the Police Academy,” he said.

Chingiz Ganizadeh said the case of Eynulla Fatullayev had also been discussed during the meeting.
“We raised this issue, too. But it should be taken into consideration that it happened in the jail. As we know that Garadagh district police office is carrying out the investigation, we asked the minister to ensure fair approach to the case. The minister promised this,” he said.

Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov received the human rights defenders on January 8.
