Prosecutor Generalâ€™s office issues statement on meeting with human rights defender

On January 8, Azerbaijanâ€™s Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov met with a group of human rights defenders - Saadat Bananyarli, Saida Gojamanli, Novella Jafaroglu and Chingiz Ganizadeh, press service of the Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office told APA. The Prosecutor General informed about adoption of progressive legislative acts signed by the president for modernization of legal-court system in Azerbaijan, creating the necessary legal basis and modernization of the prosecutorâ€™s offices, conducting fundamental reforms, achievements in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms, development of relation between the prosecutorâ€™s offices and non-governmental organizations.
The human rights defenders thanked for transparent and useful cooperation and welcomed the reforms in the prosecuting organizations and its positive results, as well as urged to extend cooperation of their organizations in this field.
The sides expressed confidence in further extension of mutual relations and held useful exchange of opinion around the issues of mutual interest.
