Permanent Representation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in Baku issues statement on happenings in Bananiyar

A group of persons led by Rza Nuriyev, member of the illegal armed group of the Popular Front made Yunis Aliyev drink alcohol and instigated him to illegal actions for reopening stands in the territory of the village school and nearby.
“On the day of Ashura, December 27, Yunis Aliyev said to the representative of the village executive power ‘You must either give permission to our stands, or I will commit suicide.’. The village residents tried to calm him down, but Yunis Aliyev continued to make noise, poured the petrol on him and burned himself. The incident was prevented by the village residents and policemen. Yunis Aliyev was taken to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Hospital. On January 5, 2010, his family took him to a hospital in Tabriz, Islamic Republic of Iran, he is being treated.â€
The representation said the Interior Ministry of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic began criminal investigation of the incident and the persons instigated Yunis Aliyev to commit crime and attempt to suicide were invited to the Interior Ministry of the Nakhchivan Autonomous republic for testimony, but those persons attacked police officers and injured them with blunt tools. “For that reason, they were forced to give explanation and those persons acknowledged their illegal actions and asked for pardoning them. The investigation identified that Yunis Aliyev’s and his instigators’ families receive monthly resources amount of 400-600 AZN from the government as a paycheck, pension or social aid. Relatives to the persons, who tried to benefit on account of disabled person, in Baku are addressing different instances complaining about the “lawlessness in Bananiyar village of Culfa region†and give interviews to the press. We are stating that the situation in Bananiyar village of Culfa region is stable and misleading campaign by some newspapers has no real groundâ€.
