On August 8, in the checkpoint near Ikinji Shikhlar village of Gazakh, border guards prevented two from smuggling goods from Georgia to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijanis Mustafayev Shahmeddin Arikh, 54, and Mustafayev Urfet Shahmeddin, 28, were detained. 1636 Nokia-1201 mobile phones, 240 boxes of psychotropic agents, 206 bottles of vodka and labels, food concentrates, caps for production of home-made lemonade were confiscated.
On August 31, in the checkpoint near Gendere village of Jalilabad, border guards prevented 7 men from smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. Shooting occurred between the border guards and the trespassers, the smugglers threw 11,110kg hashish and fled to Iran.
Criminal case was launched on both facts. Investigation is underway.
