“Phone terrorist” convicted in Azerbaijan

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. On Monday, the Court of Grave Crimes held a process on the case of resident of Siyazan region Parvin Aghasiyeva, who was accused in phone terror threat. The court session was presided over by Judge Eynulla Veliyev. The lawyer asked the court to take into consideration the age and first conviction of the defendant and her psychological situation during the crime and other factors.
Aghasiyeva pleaded guilty and said she regretted having done. Aghasiyeva was convicted for three years of conditional sentence.

According to indictment, 22-year old Parvin Aghasiyeva called via mobile phone to 102 service of the Interior Ministry on June 28, 2009 and reported about bomb installation in 28 May subway station. She was detained. Aghasiyeva told the court that she did it in a protest against her father’s efforts to separate her from her fiance.
Aghasiyeva was accused under article 216 (obviously untrue report on terrorism) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
