US Ambassador meets with students of Azerbaijan State Economic University

Baku. Shamil Alibeyli - APA. US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar has today met with the students of Azerbaijan State Economic University, APA reports.

Making a keynote speech at the event rector of the University Shamsaddin Hajiyev greeted the guest and spoke about the friendship between the two countries.

He said that the US is a strategic partner of Azerbaijan, economic relations between the two countries are developing. Hajiyev said the US is the leading state in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Addressing the event, Richard Morningstar spoke about the work done at the university. He said the students of the university visit the US through student exchange programs. Touching on the relations between the two countries, Morningstar said the relations cover three major spheres.
“They include cooperation in energy security and diversification of the economy, human rights and democracy, security, Nagorno Karabakh, Afghanistan and struggle against terrorism. US is and will be a strong partner of Azerbaijan in the field of energy security. We strongly support Shahdeniz 2 project. We are also cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of ICT," he said.

Richard Morningstar said the US supports Azerbaijan's admission to the World Trade Organization.
“WTO membership will play an important role in the formation of competitive privare sector,” he said.
