Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “The UK Government has decided not to opt in at this stage to the draft Council decisions concerning the signature and conclusion of the agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan on the readmission of persons residing without authorization,” said UK Minister for Immigration Mark Harper, APA reports. He said that there is little illegal migration from Azerbaijan to the UK and we have no operational problems with returns: “It would be possible for the UK to seek to participate in the agreement post adoption if these circumstances were to change.”
Azerbaijan and the European Union signed an agreement on visa facilitation at the end of last year. An agreement on readmission is planned to be signed this year. This document will regulate the return of Azerbaijani illegal migrants from the EU countries.
