Azerbaijani Embassy in the U.S. told APA that the resolution says that the U.S. supports the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and this country is an important strategic partner of the U.S. in the region. The document highly estimates bilateral cooperation in energy security, fight against terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The economic success of Azerbaijan, its role in the implementation of important large-scale projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in the region were also noted in the document.
The resolution underlined the importance of preventing unresolved conflicts in the South Caucasus region from damaging peace and stability in Azerbaijan and recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders by the NATO, UN, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations.
Both houses of the Arkansas General Assembly adopted resolutions on the 21st anniversary of Khojaly genocide in 2013.
