Baku. Anakhanum Idoyatova – APA. U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar has delivered a lecture at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA), APA reports. The lecture organized within the framework of the project “Global prospects and seminars” focused on “Azerbaijan and the World Trade Organization”.
The diplomat said that each country should strive to develop its economy: “Azerbaijan positions itself as an economic leader in the region and WTO membership would help the country achieve this goal. WTO membership opens additional opportunities for economic development and helps to create a favorable business climate in the country. Increased competition can result in lower prices, which will favorably influence Azerbaijani consumers.”
Morningstar noted that the United States is ready to help Azerbaijan in necessary reforms for WTO membership: “Even if Azerbaijan never joins WTO, these reforms will be productive for the development of the country”.
