Azerbaijani President: "The twenty first century will be the century of Turks"

Baku. Rashad Aliyev – APA. “The twenty first century will be the century of Turks. We will have great achievements in the future,” Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the press conference following the 3rd meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, APA reports.

President Aliyev said that Turkey and Azerbaijan are the closest countries: “Turkey’s power is the power of Azerbaijan. Turkey has passed through a great and honorable path. It is among the powerful states in the world. Turkey’s influence is increasing. No initiative can be realized in the region without the consent of Turkey. We should try to make closer the relations between the countries and people-to-people relations. We have stayed apart for 70 years, but the souls of the people remained united.

You have connected people with “Marmaray” project. You have taken a step in line with long-term benefits of Turkey. TANAP is one of the biggest energy projects. Turkey and Azerbaijan have been able to do it. We are acting jointly in energy and political programs. We will make the biggest investments in Turkey,” he said.

President mentioned the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and underlined that injustice is going on.
“We are grateful to Turkey for fair position on Nagorno Karabakh problem. Turkey is always supporting us in this issue. Armenia impedes the solution of the conflict. More than one million Azerbaijanis have been displaced. The ethnic cleansing policy is being carried out,” he said.
