Paris Court of Appeals has increased the punishment imposed by the first instance court in connection with the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in France by radical Armenian nationalists, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani embassy in France.
On September 18, 2022, radical Armenian groups attacked the Azerbaijani embassy in Paris and damaged the diplomatic mission building. Evidence related to the attack was presented to the local court and the main organizer and participants of the attack were demanded to be punished.
By the decision of the Paris Court of Appeal on June 23, 2023, a 6-month suspended sentence and a fine were imposed on the main organizer of the attack, Loris Tufanyan, a member of the Armenian movement “Charjoum”.
By the decision of the Court of Appeal announced on July 8, the 6-month suspended sentence imposed by the court of first instance was increased by 2 times to 12 months. L. Tufanyan was also banned from owning and carrying weapons for 5 years and the amount of the fine was increased.
