The ambassador said that his country was interested in developing the relations with Azerbaijan: “According to statistics, Azerbaijan has achieved to increase the volume of gross domestic product. It is important to ensure the stable development of non-oil sector, improve business environment and take measures against corruption in the country.”
Responding to the questions the ambassador said that the US supports the energy projects, mainly the “South gas corridor”, which will provide the diversification of delivery of energy resources to Europe.
Asked about the possible impact on Azerbaijan of the sanctions imposed by the US against Iran, the ambassador noted that at present, it is important to impose severe sanctions against Iran.
“The US has declared several times that there is still diplomacy in the relation with Iran. We are ready to use all opportunities to avoid the war. Therefore, the application of sanctions is the only way.”
At the end of the meeting, director of the club Telman Aliyev presented the CEIBC honorary membership certificate to Richard Morningstar.
