He said that the main reason of the incidents on the contact line of the troops was the continuation of aggression policy by Armenia.
The ambassador underlined the importance of the soonest settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “Turkey supports the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. However, they have not achieved serious progress for more than 20 years. The announcement of ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia must not be understood as the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The world community must know that currently, a part of Azerbaijani territories is still under the occupation of Armenia. There are also relevant resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on this conflict.”
The ambassador said that Armenians’ intention to open Khojaly airport aimed to distract attention: “Khojaly airport and the area it is situated in, belong to Azerbaijan. No country can carry out activities here without the permission of Azerbaijan. By opening Khojaly airport Armenia wants to distract the world’s attention from its occupation policy. We hope that this conflict will be solved peacefully soon. If it is not solved peacefully, Azerbaijan has great potential to liberate its territories from the occupation.”
