In 2010 over 4800 visas were issued, in 2011 almost 5000, and in 2012 over 5600.
The consular chief noted that there has been a steady growth in the number of people visiting the United States for tourism with New York and Washington D.C. the most common destinations: “There has also been an increase in the number of oil industry employees traveling on business, mainly to the state of Texas.”
Eric Morin said that the U.S. Embassy expects the demand for visas to continue to increase and has implemented a new appointment scheduling and on-line payment programs to make it easier for applicants to schedule a visa interview.
