Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. “I don’t believe that Azerbaijan-Russia relations will be marred or Russia will take any demarche to Azerbaijan after the decision on Gabala Radar Station,” military expert, editor-in-chief of “Nezavisimoe voennoe obozrnie” newspaper Victor Litovkin told APA’s Moscow correspondent. He said that the problems can always exist between the neighbors: “Of course, the stagnation will be observed in the relations. But, over time, as a result of the development of bilateral relations, everything will be put in order, because it can not be otherwise. Russia and Azerbaijan are neighbors.”

The expert expressed his regret over the failure to reach an agreement in the talks between Russia and Azerbaijan: “Actually, Russia can manage without Gabala radar. As you know, the station in Armavir is stronger and supplied with more modern equipment than Gabala radar station, the station will be officially tested by the end of the year. But it is also known that every equipment must undergo prophylactics. In connection with this, the equipment has to suspend its operation. Another equipment must replace it at that time. As the radar station in Armavir was undergoing prophylactics, Gabala radar was to fulfill its tasks. During prophylactics at the Gabala radar station, the station in Armavir was to compensate the work. Therefore, Gabala radar was very important for Russia. If a technical problem occurs in Armavir station, Russia will not be able to control the south, to see the threat from the south,” he said.
