Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. The conference on “Azerbaijan in a multipolar world: chances and challenges” was held in Italy's capital Rome. Delivering a speech at the conference held the Italian Institute for International Affairs (IAI), deputy chairperson of Azerbaijan parliament’s committee on international relations and inter-parliamentary ties Sevinj Fataliyeva spoke about the cultural and economic opportunities in Azerbaijan, APA reports. She also gave information about the upcoming elections and political parties of Azerbaijan.

Touching on Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict Fataliyeva noted that if Azerbaijani Ä°DPs from Nagorno-Karabakh are returned to their native lands, elections may be held there. She said an objective result can not be achieved as only the Armenians live there now.

Director of the European Program of the International Crisis Group Sabine Fraser noted that she witnessed the steady development of Azerbaijan’s economy by each year and re-development during her all visits to the country. Speaking of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations Fraser noted that the war is not expected in the near future: “Though the nerves of sides are strained, they refrain from war.”

Senior associate at the US Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Thomas de Waal said that Azerbaijan is moving towards being an example for the region.
