Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia has commented on the assessment of the EU officials’ statements on the arrest of Ilgar Mammadli and Tofig Yagublu by Azerbaijan as a pressure and something inadmissible.
Kobia told journalists that Ms. Catherine Ashton and Štefan Füle also issued official statements and declarations in this regard: “These statements were issued, others joined them. Azerbaijan signed the partnership and cooperation agreement with the EU. Thus, the EU officials’ statement on Azerbaijan is not unusual. We fully respect the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. However, every country should unambiguously observe and respect a commitment undertaken in the context of the international law,” APA reports.
