GUAM Secretary General: If the draft resolution on the frozen conflicts is put to the vote at the UN General Assembly, it will be adopted

"The other side of the issue is the passage of the resolution with the support of our main partners. We are trying to persuade them to support us. At present as a chairman of GUAM Azerbaijan is carrying out activities, we hope the country, which will chair the organization for the next term, will also achieve to solve this problem," he said.

Valeri Chechelashvili said the final text of the draft resolution was confirmed at the meeting of GUAM National Coordinators Council, the organization's representatives in New York have the opportunity to work on this text in order to get maximum support of the partner countries at the UN General Assembly.

On December 1, the GUAM Secretariat in Kiev hosted the 26th meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC). The final text of the draft resolution “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” was agreed and the progress of submission of the draft resolution “On cooperation between the UN and GUAM” was discussed at the session of the UN General Assembly.

In the recent years, including this year, the draft resolution on “Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development” has been included in the agenda of the UN General Assembly for several times. The draft resolution also reflected the clause on the other issues, including the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
