APA reports that the deputy minister underlined Greece is interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan.
According to him, the visit aims to convey the European partners’ support to Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project to Azerbaijan and deepen the relations within Azerbaijan-EU: “Greece will take over EU presidency next year and talks were conducted towards the expansion of relations in this direction.”
Kourkoulas said that he met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev in Baku: “Greece wants the increase of Azerbaijan’s investments in Greece. TAP project is useful in terms of economy, gas will be transported to the Western countries via this pipeline. The capacity of the pipeline is expected to rise from 10 bcm to 20 in the future.”
The deputy minister also said that Baku-Athens direct flight will be launched on May 28: “Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Greece has increased by 2,3 times in the recent years. Both countries signed more than 20 agreements. In the near future, we will start works to hold a meeting of intergovernmental commission.”
Kourkoulas underlined that the Greek Foreign Minister will visit Azerbaijan late in April.
